In This Lesson :
To get specific search results:
Start with a specific topic and research questions:
- "The Aswan Dam" is not a specific topic.
- 'The construction of the Aswan Dam" is a specific topic.
- For the topic, the research questions might include.
-What materials were used to build the Aswan Dam?
or How many workers built the Aswan Dam?
Accurate search terms:
Use synonyms to make your search terms more accurate.
For example:
You want to research the amount of time 13 to 18-year-old
people spend online each day. You use the search by children time computer, but there are too many results.
When you change the search string to teenagers time online will narrow the results.
If you put the search string in quotation marks, your search will be narrowed even more, to only results with the exact terms in quotation marks.
Some search engines suggest keywords and similar searches.
Search engines also have an advanced searching tool that helps you limit search results.
Boolean operators and search modifiers
