In This Lesson :
Network
They're groups of people, or things that are connected to each other for a common purpose.

Local Area Network (LAN)
When a computer is connected to another computer or device such as a printer or router .

Internet
It is a network that connects computers, and the people using them, from all around the world.

How to connect your computer to the internet?
To connect your computer to the internet, you need a gateway:

A gateway is a tool to connect the internet such as a router:

We need a gateway such as a router.

► Router:
- It connects your computer to an ISP

• Internet Service Provider (ISP):
- It is the internet service provided by Egyptian companies to citizens.

The World Wide Web (WWW)
- It's part of the internet network, made up of web pages that people can navigate.

The Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB)
- It's on the (WWW)
- It is available for free to all Egyptians who register on the site.

Intranet
- unlike the internet it's private, restricted to only those that are part of the business, school, or organization that it is connecting.

Cable
- A long connector that transmits data or power between devices, such as ethernet cable.

Types of Networks divided into:
Open network Closed network
- It is open.
- It is accessible to all. - It is part of the open network.
- It is specific to a specific part.

History of using the internet

80s dial-up internet connection
