In This Part :
When the balance between positive and negative charges is disturbed, a form of electricity known as static electricity (electrostatic) is produced.

Conclusion
▌Rubbing certain objects (like ebonite) with a suitable material (like wool) gives them the ability to attract lightweight objects because they have been charged with static electricity (electrostatic) charges.
▌The electric charges settle on the surface of the rubbed part of the object only and do not transfer to the rest of it.
▌Rubbing (friction) certain objects (like copper) does not give them the ability to attract lightweight objects (paper scraps).

1. Electrically Conducting materials
Examples:
• Carbon
• All metals, such as:
- Copper. - Iron. -Aluminum.
2. Electrically Non-conducting materials (Insulators)
Examples:
• Wood. • Paper.
• Wool. • Silk.
• Glass. • Ebonite.

Charging by Friction (Rubbing)
The process of charging two uncharged objects by rubbing two objects together.

Static Electricity (Electrostatic charges)
The charges that accumulate on the surfaces of objects when they lose or gain electrons.

Electrostatic Series
The arrangement of materials according to the easiness of losing electrons when rubbed together.

Charging by Contact
The process of charging an uncharged object by its contact with a charged object.
