Calculation of chemical formula
CHEMISTRY - Secondary 1
In This part we will study
The term "mass percentage" is used in chemical calculations, to calculate the percentage of each component in a given sample, by:
Experimental results which are obtained practically, from the relation :
- The sum of the percentages of the elements composing the compound must equals 100%
Example (1):
0.4 g of oxygen combine completely with 1.63 g of zinc to form zinc oxide, calculate the mass percentage of each of the two elements in the product.
Solution:
Example (2):
Calculate the mass percentages of the components of potassium sulphate salt.
[K = 39, S = 32, O = 16]
