In recent years there has been a conversion of the data used with technologies such as television, radio and telephones. Traditionally these systems accessed an analog signal which contained variable values. These days though the data within the technology has been converted to a digital format, providing many advantages to users. When a device uses a digital signal it can talk to other digital devices. The merging of different technologies in the IT industry refers t the concept of convergence, where different technologies combine and are integrated with one another.
