An image is a data type and form of media which displays a still form of colour and shape combinations. Images can be collected by digital cameras or created using software. The two classifications of images include bit-mapped and vector images.

Bit-mapped graphics are graphics that are created and edited using a paint program, which store and manipulate each pixel of a graphic.

Vector graphics are images that are created and edited using a drawing program, which store the image data in the form of mathematical definitions.
