1 – Start today. Many people think that they need to have a really strong skill like coding, developing websites, graphic design, Facebook adds. In reality, that is absolutely not the case. You can start applying for jobs with lower prices and then increase your price while improving the quality of your work.
Once you become a freelancer, you become an entrepreneur as well. It means that you have to do things to learn things. You are not longer an employee. You have to find customers and learn how to work with them.
2 – Choose your niche. You need to choose something that you have some skills at and that you are passionate about. Also, there has to be a market for it. You need to make sure that people are interested to buy this service.
3 – Choose your product. You need to know the basics of your product and what it actually does. Also, it will be good if you like the product if there is a market for that product.
For example, let’s say that you have been studying medicine, you are interested in health and doctors are wealthy people, then definitely the health niche is for you.
The 3 main things that you should be looking for when choosing a product to deliver are:
• You need to like it.
• You need to be capable of doing it.
• There has to be a market for that.
4 – Before you make your own website, you need to make sure that everything is going to work. You do not want to waste all your time building all that and then no one wants to buy it.
You have to go make your market research. The first thing you can do is go to Upwork, Freelancer, Fiverr and check how many jobs are being posted every day for your niche every day. If there are very few jobs or none, then you must change your niche.
Another way to test the market is to do some cold calling asking people if they are potentially interested in that. Don’t ask your close people because they will always tell you positive things.
5 – Time to find your customers. You are a freelancer and you do not have just one job anymore. As a freelancer you have to be able to sell yourself. You need to let the client know the advantages of the product and what he is going to get from it.
You can sell your product on freelancing platforms, do some cold calling, post on Facebook groups, make YouTube videos. In the beginning you can offer the product for free to get some reputation and referrals from satisfied customers.
6 – Learn Sales. You cannot learn this skill from books. You have to watch how other people are doing it and implement it daily. You cannot just deliver your product. You also have to become a sales person.
You do not have a boss anymore, so you need to find people who are going to keep you accountable.
7 – Drop out of your current job.
8 – You can turn that into a business.
