Printing from the free Epson Print Layout software he use the ABW (Advanced Black and White) mode, discussing how it improves on using ICC printer profiles for black and white. For a colour print the correct profile helps, but there are some aspects of how the printer works which give ABW an advantage over using a 'colour' print mode.
